Women's & Men's XC Win Region XV Championship
Donegan and Swenson are individual champions.
The Suffolk Community College men's and women's cross country teams took the top spots in both team and individual competitions at the NJCAA Division III Region XV Championships hosted by St. Joseph's College at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, New York, on Saturday, October 17.
Chris Swenson won the men's championship in 28:54.2, leading the Sharks to the team title. Fellow teammates winning medals for Suffolk were Ryan Evans (2nd place – 30:12.9) and Matt Mintzer (6th place – 31:50.0).
Ryleigh Donegan won the individual crown in 20:39.1, helping her #1 nationally-ranked fellow Sharks take the team championship. Other medal winners for Suffolk were Leana Wiebelt (2nd place – 21:03.0), Kayla Clements (3rd place – 21:39.0), and Menely Genao (7th place – 22:33.1).
The Sharks will next compete at the JUCO Northeast Invitational hosted by CCRI on Saturday, October 31.
