Ibrahim Abubakar Breaks 41-Year-Old School Record in the 400 Meters at Lions' Invite
A tremendous showing by many Sharks at the Lions' Invitational at The College of New Jersey.
Ibrahim Abubakar and Samantha Triani both PR'd and broke the school record in the 400 meters, as Nicole Catanzaro broke the school triple jump record with a personal best mark of 10.73 meters. Ibrahim (48.75) bettered a 41-year-old record, while Sam (1:00.23) improved upon her own record from this season.
New National standards met: Alissa Conway (high jump - 1.46m), Nicole Catanzaro (100 - 13.56 PR), Tori Thompson (400 - 1:01.06 PR), Diamonte Corley (200 - 22.26), Danielle Milo (5K - 20:53.23 PR), Dora Mayen (javelin - 26.40m PR), Justin Walker (200 - 23.11 PR), and the men's 4x800 (Porter, Simon, McGlone, Biggs).
Other personal records were accomplished by: Nicole Catanzaro (long jump - 4.82m), Kathleen Costello (100 - 13.89), Mairead Kelly (5K - 19:48.28), Melanie Sterling (5K - 21:40.77), Samantha Sledge (400 hurdles - 1:09.11), Devante Smith (200 - 22.88), Galvin Biggs (800 - 2:08.07), and Kenny Ruddick (400 hurdles - 56.63).
The Sharks are off next weekend, and then leave for the Junior College National Championships (May 8-10) the following week hosted by Mohawk Valley C.C. in Utica, New York.
