Suffolk Sharks Continue to Qualify for NJCAA National Championship in May
In the men's triple jump, freshman Tylin Adams out-jumped his previous personal best by one foot, and hit the national qualifying standard with his jump of 13.69 meters. Dannie Holland won the triple jump with a leap of 14.62 meters, once again setting the meet record. In the men's long jump, Majestic Temple jumped 6.42 meters, eight inches past his previous personal best.
Sophomore Dominique Mitchell jumped her personal best in her triple jump debut for Suffolk, with a jump of 10.59 meters. Both Mitchell and Freshman Kathleen Costello qualified for the NJCAA Division III national meet in the triple jump.
In the women's long jump, Tori Thompson jumped 5.18 meters, qualifying her for the national meet. Thompson joins her teammates Mackenzie Vickers and Dominique Mitchell to take the top three spots in the outdoor NJCAA Division III Performance List. Thompson also qualified in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.87. Thompson is now qualified to compete in 4 individual events at the national meet.
In the 400m hurdles, Kenny Ruddick secured his spot at the national meet with a time of 59.54 seconds. John Seskus qualified for the national meet in the 3,000m steeplechase, with a time of 11:00.14. Freshman Austin McGlone ran a personal best of 4:20.03 in the 1500m. Mackenzie Vickers qualified for the national meet in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.15 seconds, making this her third qualifying event.
