Triple Jumper Dannie Holland places 2nd at the 119th Penn Relays
Sophomore Dannie Holland represented Suffolk Community College at the 119th running of the Penn Relays this weekend. Dannie placed 2nd in the College Men's Triple Jump Eastern with a jump of 14.54 meters. The prestigious meet took place at Franklin Field at the University of Pennsylvania. This season Dannie surpassed both his prior triple jump and long jump personal bests. Dannie jumped 14.88 meters (48' 9¾") in the triple jump at the Ramapo College Roadrunner Invitational and 6.86 meters (22' 6") in the long jump at the Army Dick Shea Open. Dannie set two meet records in the triple jump this season – the first with his jump at the Ramapo College Roadrunner Invitational and second at the Moravian Coach P Invitational with a jump of 14.62 meters.
In his freshman year with the team, Dannie won the triple jump at the NJCAA North East District Championship with a jump of 14.42 meters and the NJCAA Division III National Championship with a jump of 14.48 meters. Dannie is a graduate of Longwood High School, where he went 48' 5" in the triple jump and 21' 10" in the long jump.
Dannie is qualified to compete at the NJCAA Division III national championship meet at Howard Community College in Maryland in both the triple jump and long jump on May 9-11, 2013.
