Awards:
– National Coach of the Year (3x): Men's Track & Field (2016), Women's Track & Field (2016), Women's XC (2015).
– USTFCCCA N.E. Region Coach of the Year (6x): Women's XC (2018, 2015), Men's Track & Field (2018, 2016), Men's XC (2017), Women's Track & Field (2016).
– Region XV Coach of the Year (6x): Men's XC (2018, 2017, 2016, 2015), Women's XC (2018, 2015).
During the last eight academic years (2011-2019), these programs and their coaching staff have guided Suffolk's student-athletes to three national championship team titles (2016 men's and women's track & field; 2015 women's XC), twenty-five national individual titles, and sixty-eight NJCAA All-Americans. In 2007, French was the assistant coach to the women's cross country NJCAA national champions.
French is a Professional Assistant for the Physical Education Department at the Ammerman Campus. He was a national-caliber junior-college athlete and member of the 1985 Region XV championship cross country team at Suffolk, as well as an All-County runner at Longwood High School. French received his BA in English from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he was a member of the Salukis' NCAA Division I cross country team.
